TSC Denies Unions’ Requests for Promoted Teachers’ Identities. The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has declined requests.
Both the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (Kuppet) and the Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) have urged the TSC to disclose the identities of promoted teachers.

Concerns arise that the merit list may include deceased teachers if their real names are not provided alongside their TSC numbers.
The TSC’s refusal or inability to reveal the names of selected candidates for auditing purposes has sparked controversy.
The inclusion of both recent and old TSC numbers in the lists has raised suspicion.
The list overlooked some teachers despite their possession of more qualifications.
The Commission states that only those on the list will receive promotion letters.
Some counties have already begun distributing promotion letters to the 36,505 successful teachers listed on the TSC website.
Successful teachers must submit five Chapter 6 documents, including a Certificate of Good Conduct, HELB Clearance Certificate, KRA Tax Compliance Certificate, EACC clearance, and a Clearance Certificate from a Credit Reference Bureau.
Promoted headteachers and deputy heads may be assigned outside their current sub-counties. While senior teachers are likely to remain in schools with openings within their sub-counties.
Teachers promoted through confirmation will work in schools where they have years of experience.
Remorse letters will be sent to teachers not selected for promotion, verifying their interview attendance.
TSC conducted interviews for a minimum of 105,000 educators selected for promotion from December 2023 to January 2024.
Elementary school teacher interviews occurred from December 4 to December 15, 2023. While secondary school teacher and TTC tutor interviews took place from January 3 to January 16, 2024.
TSC has rejected unions’ requests to disclose promoted teachers’ names publicly.
