While the 2021–2025 CBA was initially seen as a positive step forward, significant revisions to the remuneration structure were introduced through the addendum signed on August 28, 2023.

To address these concerns and boost the morale of teachers, the Teachers Service Commission has announced a substantial salary upgrade for Deputy Principals II and Senior Masters I in Grade D2 (T Scale 12). Notably, their new salary stands at 92,119 Kenyan Shillings, reflecting an increase of 1,078 Kenyan shillings.
This salary adjustment is part of a comprehensive framework that encompasses salary points and allowances. Deputy Principals and Senior Masters in these grades are positioned within a salary scale that integrates specific salary points and corresponding allowances. This approach allows for further differentiation based on their experience and service.
Breaking down the new basic salary points:
1. Salary Point: 92,119 Kenyan Shillings, Grade: D2
2. Salary Point: 95,101 Kenyan Shillings, Grade: D2
3. Salary Point: 97,552 Kenyan Shillings, Grade: D2
4. Salary Point: 100,661 Kenyan Shillings, Grade: D2
5. Salary Point: 103,861 Kenyan Shillings, Grade: D2
6. Salary Point: 107,157 Kenyan Shillings, Grade: D2
7. Salary Point: 110,551 Kenyan Shillings, Grade: D2
With this updated salary structure, Deputy Principals and Senior Masters will experience a progressive increase in earnings as they accumulate years of service and experience.
Additionally, teachers in Grade D2 will receive various allowances, including a Hardship Allowance of 12,000 Kenyan Shillings, recognizing challenges in difficult or remote areas. Furthermore, a Commuter Allowance of 27,300 Kenyan Shillings aims to support daily commute expenses. Educators will also benefit from an Annual Leave Allowance of 10,000 Kenyan Shillings, providing them with well-deserved breaks. Moreover, a Disability Guide Allowance of 20,000 Kenyan Shillings is allocated to support teachers with disabilities in their teaching roles.
